In 2007 Massachusetts was the No. 2 state, behind California, in venture capital investment in green technology companies. One of President Barack Obama's campaign pledges called for creating 5 million "green jobs" over the next 10 years with a $150 billion investment. In Massachusetts, Gov. Deval Patrick has been promoting green initiatives, which would dedicate $100 million over the next five years to clean-energy research and business development. What is a "green job" and what are the best opportunities for updating existing job skills to address Green Technology needs? What will be the effect of the Federal Government's Stimulus Package on growth and jobs in Green Technology in Massachusetts?
Philip Giudice, Commissioner Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, as well as a panel of green industry representatives will address these issues in this session.
